About Us
We are a full service Restaurant and Bakery located in the Village of Millbank that specializes in homemade Mennonite cooking. We offer a variety of daily specials which include your choice of meat, potato, vegetable, and dinner roll. Come in today and try our famous Broasted Chicken! We also have a special Children`s menu. For dessert, be sure to try a piece of pie from our list of 20+ desserts! All of our baked goods are homemade daily by our wonderful bakery staff. Anna Mae`s is a great family establishment and an excellent choice to eat before or after you take in the St. Jacob`s Farmers Market. We are less than 30 minutes from Stratford, Waterloo, Drayton & St Jacob`s. Our quaint village also has a Cheese Outlet, Mennonite Furniture Store and quilt shops!
History
Anna Mae Wagler is a local Mennonite lady who began her business by selling pies at the end of her laneway. Her roadside stand soon became too small, so she expanded her kitchen and turned it into a small bakery. After working out of her house for a few years, she built a bigger facility to accommodate the increase in business and included the addition of a restaurant. The restaurant gained popularity beyond Anna Mae`s expectations and experienced ongoing growth in business. The late Mel Herrfort & his wife Marlene Herrfort purchased the restaurant in Febuary 2001 with a commitment to the same business practises and principles that Anna Mae`s was founded on . They continued to grow the establishment which now seats 175 people. In 2008, Mel and Marlene undertook an environmental initiative and a wind turbine was erected to supply power to the restaurant and bakery.
